Representative from Franklin county, was born in Grant county, Wisconsin, July 20, 1870, came to Sheffield, Franklin county, Iowa, with his mother and sister in 1881. Received his education in the common schools and business college. In 1900 he was one of two men who established the Farmers & Merchants Bank, and has served as its cashier ever since. He is a large land owner, is of high ideals and purposes, and has at all times given the best of his ability for the promotion of all the things that work for the up-building and betterment of the general people. Was married October 25, 1898, to Mary E. Thomas. They have three children, Chauncey Thomas 19, Esther Louisa 15, Nola May 10. He is a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner. Elected representative in 1918 and 1920. A republican in politics.
