Representative from Fayette county, is of American parentage. His parents came to Iowa in 1856 and settled on the land, on which a part of the town of Arlington, Fayette county, is now located. He took up the work of farming and stock raising, which he followed until 1902, and has since been engaged in real estate business. He was interested in public affairs, having served several terms as assessor and township trustee, and was a member of the board of education over twenty years. In 1902 he was elected a member of the board of supervisors which office he held until January 1, 1916. Married in 1880 to Miss Velma E. Doane who died in 1884. In 1889 was married to Miss Mary G. Hutchison. Elected representative in 1916. Re-elected in 1918. A republican in politics.
