Representative from Chickasaw county, was born at North Washington, Iowa, July 11, 1857. In 1864 moved with his parents to Chickasaw, Iowa. In 1884 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Rumbaugh. They resided on a farm at Chickasaw until in 1892, when he moved to Ionia, Iowa, and engaged in the mercantile business. In 1903 he was appointed postmaster of Ionia, Iowa, which office he held for nearly twelve years. Has always been a resident of Chickasaw county. Has held offices of justice of the peace, township trustee, town councilman and has been a member of the school board of Ionia for many years. Is a member of the Congregational church and also of the I.O.O.F., Modern Woodmen, Modern Brotherhood and Masonic lodges. Elected in 1916. Re-elected in 1918. A republican in politics.
