Wapello County
One of the representatives from Wapello county, is a native of Ohio, born and reared on a farm. He received a common school and college education, taught school for a period of ten years, then took up the study of law. In 1881, he was admitted to the bar at Columbus, Ohio. In March of 1884, he married Louise M. Roberts of Indiana, and immediately moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, where he engaged in the practice of law. Was a member of the school board, city solicitor, mayor of the city, county attorney, three terms on the state republican central committee and committeeman of his district and county. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, York Rites Mason and Shriners, Elks, Knights of Pythias and M.W.A. Elected in 1916 and re-elected in 1918. A republican in politics.
