One of the representatives from Pottawattamie county, was born in Monroe, Green county, Wisconsin, May 9, 1857. Moved with his parents to Jasper county, Missouri, in 1866, where he was educated in the rural schools of the county, the high school at Carthage, and at Park College, Parkville, Missouri. Learned the milling trade with his father, but soon gave it up for the work of teaching. Is now head of the commercial department of the Council Bluffs high school, which position he has held for the past eighteen years. On June 23, 1880, he was married to Miss Lanora M. Sayre, at Medoc, Missouri. Is a Presbyterian in religion, and a republican in politics. Was elected representative in 1914. Re-elected in 19.16.
