Representative from O'Brien county, was born November 15, 1851, near Plymouth, Illinois. Moved to Prairie City, Iowa, in 1865. Received his education in the country and graded schools, supplemented by a full course in a business college. Was married to Allie B. White, of Knoxville, Iowa, December 25, 1877, and to them have been born two sons. Moved to O'Brien county in 1883, engaging in the mercantile business, which he continued for three years, then entered the banking business in which he has been engaged for the past twenty-eight years. Never held public office until his election to the thirty-seventh general assembly in 1916. A republican in politics.
