O’Brien County
Representative from O'Brien county, was born in Sweden, December 7, 1855. Was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church in 1869. Emigrated to America in February, 1879. Worked on farm for two years in Delaware county, Iowa, and in a general store as clerk in same county for several years, afterwards represented a house in New York as their agent for ten years. In 1883 invested in O'Brien county, Iowa, land and later became one of the largest land owners of O'Brien county. He was married to Miss Ida Cole, of Clayton county, Iowa, December 14, 1889, when he moved to Hartley, and settled permanently in O'Brien county. Served on Hartley city council for eight years until elected on the board of supervisors and served in that capacity as chairman of the board until elected as representative of O'Brien county at the November election in 1914. Has always been an active member of the republican party and the Masonic lodge.
