Representative from Warren county, was born September 10, 1867, near Carlisle, Warren county, Iowa, of English parentage. Attended public school at Carlisle and Simpson College at Indianola, afterwards engaging in the mercantile business at the latter place. After a few years was elected cashier of the Warren County State Bank, and at the same time his father became president of this institution, and the family took up their residence at Indianola. He was married January 3, 1894, to Clara A. McLaughlin, and to this union four children were born, three of whom are now living. He disposed of his interest in the Warren County Bank several years ago, and has devoted his time since to the operation of stock farms. He is now the president of the Citizens Bank of Carlisle, member of the board of trustees of Simpson College. Elected representative in 1912. Re-elected in 1914. A republican in politics.
