Ida County
Representative from Ida county, was born in Davenport, Iowa, June 12, 1866, of German parentage. He received a graded school education in the schools at Davenport. Clerked for several years in a general mercantile establishment at Gladbrook and Hawarden and in 1884 became a partner in a general mercantile store at Ida Grove, where he has since that time been engaged in business. Has also been very prominent in the grain and stock interest of his community. Was married to Miss Emma Waack, December 7, 1897, four girls and four boys having been born to them. Served twelve years on the city council. Is a member of all branches of the Masons, Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias. Is also vice-president of the state insurgent movement of the Modern Woodmen and is a member of the Royal Highlanders. Elected representative in 1912. A democrat in politics.
