Representative from Carroll county, was born near Moline, Illinois, December 22, 1858. His parents were born near Cologne, Germany, and came to America in 1851. Attended the country school until fifteen years old, and was a student four winters in the Northern Illinois College. Was married in 1886 and moved to Carroll county, Iowa, where he has since lived. Has held various township and school offices and for many years has been a contributor to the department of statistics. He has seven children, three girls and four boys. Elected representative in 1910. Re-elected in 1912. A democrat in politics.
