Representative from Humboldt county, was born April 30, 1872, in Norway township, Humboldt county, Iowa. His father was born in Norway; his mother in Iowa. His parents moved from Clayton county to Humboldt county in 1870, where they still live. Was educated in the rural schools with the exception of two winters spent in the high school at Eagle Grove. During the years of 1900-1901, he took a commercial course at Des Moines. He was bookkeeper for a grain and lumber firm for three years, and active manager of a grain business for nine years. Was appointed traveling auditor for the Great Western Elevator Company of Minneapolis in 1903, taking charge of a line of elevators in Iowa and Minnesota. Was elected and held the office of grand secretary of the International Order of Good Templars for five years. Has held the office of constable, county committeeman and was elected county treasurer of Humboldt county, which office he held five years. Elected representative in 1910. Re-elected in 1912. A republican in politics.
