Representative from Jasper county, was born in Poweshiek county, Iowa, in 1867. His father was a native of North Carolina and his mother a native of Indiana. They came to Iowa in 1857 and moved to a farm near Lynnville, where they resided until 1881, when they moved to the town of Lynnville. He attended the high school at Lynnville and graduated in 1887. During the year following his graduation he attended Penn College at Oskaloosa, Iowa. Leaving there he returned to Lynnville, where he took charge of his father's farming and live stock business, which has been his principal business since that time. Was interested in a farm implement store for two years and is interested in the grain business at the present time. Has been chosen to a number of local offices, including township trustee, member of the town council, etc. Was married in 1891 to Hattie E. Hunt. They have five children. Elected representative in 1912. A republican in politics.
