Representative from Clinton county, was born February 11, 1851, in Rockingham county, Virginia. His parents moved to Iowa in 1858 and settled on a farm in Brookfield township, Clinton county. He received his education in the public schools. Has always been engaged in farming and he was one of the first farmers in eastern Iowa to stock his farm with a herd of Polled Durham cattle. He married Miss Hattie E. Kennedy of Dubuque county, October 20, 1886. Elected Representative in 1910. A Democrat in politics.
