Representative from Appanoose county, was born in Jackson county, Ohio, September 23, 1856, of American parentage. His education was obtained in the common schools. Was married in Gallia county, Ohio, November 30, 1881, to Miss Eliza Craig; has two sons and two daughters. Was engaged in agriculture in Ohio. Moved to Iowa in 1891, and operated a saw mill on the Chariton river, in Appanoose county, for several years. Purchased a farm in 1895, to which he moved the next spring and on which he still lives. His oldest son is engaged with him in farming and the raising and feeding of stock. Is a member of the Methodist church; also a member of the Masons and Odd Fellow fraternal organizations. Was a school director for two years. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
