Representative from Ringgold county, was born May 12, 1865, in Greene county, Pennsylvania. Both parents were born in Pennsylvania, his father being of Irish descent and his mother of Pennsylvania Dutch stock. At the age of two years, he came to Ringgold county, Iowa, with his parents, where he has since resided. His education was obtained in the common schools. Held the office of township clerk of Benton township for eleven years, resigning when he moved to Mt. Ayr. Has served two years on the city council. Owns and manages a large farm which is well stocked. Elected Representative in 1910. A Democrat in politics.
