Born at Mansfield, Ohio, November 17, 1850. When he was a little child his parents removed to this state, locating at Fairfield. Mr. Brighton received his education in the schools of that town, and had as a finishing course of study a term at the De Pauw university, at Greencastle, Ind., with a further course at the Iowa State university. He took the law course, from which he was graduated and has been in continuous practice since. While he lived in Indiana he was engaged in school teaching, having been superintendent of schools at Kentland. Mr. Brighton held the office of United States internal revenue inspector for some time, and has served on the city council of Fairfield. He is a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge and of the Greek letter society of the State university, the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is an attendant of the Methodist church. Last session he served on the committees on ways and means, code, judiciary, public health, constitutional amendments, compensation of public officers, pardons, and pharmacy. He is a practical legislator, faithful to the desires of his constituents. He is one of the unmarried men of the Assembly.
