Born June 16, 1845, at Guilford, Ill. His father Edmond was born at Dunstable Mass., and his mother, Elmira Morse was born Westfield N. Y. He married Annis J. Riddell, March 5, 1867. He enlisted August 5, 1862, in Company A, Seventy fourth Illinois Infantry. He was wounded in the shoulder at Murfreesboro, but served in several other battles. He was discharged May 6, 1863, on account of wounds received in service. He settled in O'Brien County in 1871, residing at Sheldon. He was elected Representative from this district in the Twenty-second General Assembly of Iowa. Mr. Parkhurst was a member of the Masonic and Elks orders.
