Born in Bath county, Kentucky, August 11, 1814. At the age of seven years he accompanied his parents to Delaware county, Ohio, and from there to Washington county, Iowa. He settled in Dutch Creek township. Mr. Said was a member of the legislature in 1876. He also held the office of county supervisor in 1869; he was married in Dayton, Ohio, to Miss Jane Worthington, in 1850. Mr. Said is postmaster at Paris, and well respected by his neighbors.
