Born September 25, 1836, in Cortland County, New York. He came to Iowa in 1856. He had a 160 acre farm in Bennington Township in 1878. He married Miss Glorvinia Corwin, March 22, 1860. He was justice of the peace, township supervisor, township clerk, and county assessor. He was elected to represent Black Hawk county in the Sixteenth General Assembly, 1876.
