Alexander Martin Giltner
Monroe County
Born in 1829 and died on May 15, 1891, at Albia. He married Mary Elizabeth Newell on October 13, 1857 at Albia, Monroe, Illinois. Mr. Giltner farmed in Troy Township, and raised Short Horn cattle and was also active in the importation and breeding of heavy horses. He was the pioneer in the introduction of thorough-bred stock into the county, having gone east and purchased a pair some five or six years ago. He represented Monroe County, Iowa in the House of Representatives.
