Born May 23, 1830, in Pennsylvania. Mr. Colvin married Miss Mary Peoples. The Peoples Baptist Church was organized as a branch of the Perry church in February, 1879, with Levi and Mary Colvin. It had no church building but met for public worship at what was known as the Peoples township school. He and his father-in-law were the original settlers of Peoples Township in Boone County. The inhabitants of the township are almost exclusively engaged in farming and raising stock. Mr. Colvin was elected to represent Boone County in the Sixteenth Iowa General Assembly, 1876. Mr. Colvin died June 8, 1896.
