Born in 1818, resident of Gilmore City and owner of a good farm in Lake Township. He is a native of Ireland and, coming to New York State in 1847, married there that year to Catherin Boache who was born in Ireland in 1820. He found employment in railroad building, which was then a new enterprise. After a few years he moved to Michigan and two years later to a farm in Fayette County, Wisconsin. In the spring of 1869 he located on 40 acres in Lizard Township, making the journey in a wagon, and ten years later in Lake Township where the family has secured many acres of land. A few years ago he moved to Gilmore City. He represented Franklin County in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Iowa General Assemblies, 1872, 1874.
