Andrew Theodore Sandry

Born September 22, 1829, in Bevers Kanton, Graubunden, Switzerland. He came to American April 27, 1849, arriving in New Orleans, He married Elizabeth Hirth on April 12, 1852, in Dubuque, Iowa and came to Lansing, settling on a farm. Mr. Sandry like all true descendants of Wm. Tell, has been a lifelong democrat, and a man who has always taken great pride in national, state, county, and town matters and never missed an opportunity of aiding in the material development and growth of either. He served this county in the Fourteenth General Assembly in 1872, was his party's candidate for county treasurer in 1879, was a member of the Board of Supervisors, President of the German Farmers Insurance Company and also it's Secretary and Treasurer, besides holding various township offices.
