Wapello County
Born in Harrison County, Ohio, December 2, 1818, and he died in California. His parents were John and Abigail (Wilson) Carver. He learned the trade of steamboat carpenter. On July 8,1841 he married Mary Risinger (the daughter of Stephen Thackery) in Ripley County, Indiana and moved to Wapello County, Iowa, in 1846 and took up land. Mr. Carver is the owner of 583 acres of land, supplied with five dwelling-houses, two barns, and other substantial and necessary farm buildings has been a man of influence in this vicinity, and represented the county in the State Legislature in 1875. In politics he is a stanch Republican, and he and his estimable wife are members in good standing of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
