Born August 5, 1834, near Erie, Pa. He married Miss Julia Prescott, October 5, 1864. Mr. Blake served a term in the Iowa State Legislature (1871-1872), representing Buena Vista county, but eventually migrated west as a result of his poor health. Served in the Civil War, Company A, 11th Pennsylvania Calvary, attaining the rank of colonel.
