William Tucker
Chickasaw County
Born in England in 1820. He had visited the county the previous year in order to find a suitable location for a home and several months later he brought his family from Wisconsin to Iowa, taking up his abode in Chickasaw township. For several years he conducted a grist and sawmill and, prospering in his undertakings, he made judicious investments in land, becoming the owner of several farms. In later life he held a position in the pension department at Washington, D. C., for a number of years. He represented Chickasaw county in the Twelfth Iowa General Assembly, 1868. He married Julie Ann Johnson, February 10, 1842, in Lawrence, Illinois. He was a member of the Congregational Church.
