Charles P. Sheldon
Cedar County
Born in Jefferson County, New York, April 27, 1818, He lived there twenty-three years, then moved to Michigan and engaged in farming where he lived for thirteen years. He came to this county in 1854 and selected some land, and the following year moved his family here and settled in Inland Township. He engaged in farming for fifteen years, and then moved to Tipton. He held the office of Supervisor in Michigan six years, and school Inspector. He was Justice of the Peace, and Representative to the State Legislature. In this county, he held the office of County supervisor, for six years, and was Chairman of the Board five years. He was elected Representative to the State Legislature, 1868. Mr. Sheldon was Assistant Provost Marshal during the war, and was Justice of the Peace. He married Miss Laura Mantle, from Jefferson County, New York, September 1, 1841.
