Abraham Bolton

Born in New York on April 18, 1799, to Levi Bolton and Rebecca Horton. He married Miss Aurelia Griswold and had 7 children. Mr. Bolton came to Iowa about 1853. In February, 1856, he came into Iowa County, Iowa Township, and located on section twenty-six, where there were no neighbors living within miles, although in the north part of the township settlers had resided for at least twelve years. He served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives in the 12th General Assembly (1868-1869). Mr. Bolton and his son, who resided in Marengo, operated a large farm of over two hundred acres. Mr. Bolton passed away in Oxford, Iowa on October 7, 1886.
