Senator Elerick from the committee appointed to prepare and submit resolutions in memory of the late Daniel P. Stubbs of Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, submitted the following report:
MR. PRESIDENT—Your committee appointed to prepare and submit resolutions in memory of the late Daniel P. Stubbs of Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, beg leave to submit the following report:
WHEREAS, Hon. Daniel P. Stubbs, a member of this body in the regular session of the Tenth and Eleventh General Assemblies, departed this life at his home in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, on the 2nd day of May, A. D., 1905, therefore be it
Resolved, That the Senate has learned with sorrow and regret of the death of Senator Stubbs, and that in his death the state has lost an able and highminded citizen and legislator, who was a staunch advocate of the interests of his fellow citizens.
As a lawyer, Senator Stubbs stood at the head of his profession, and achieved success; he came to Fairfield in 1857, and practiced law in partnership with the Hon. James F. Wilson, for five years; served as mayor of Fairfield two terms. In the Eleventh General Assembly he was chosen and served as president pro tem of the Senate.
Resolved, That the Senate join with his neighbors and friends in sorrow at his loss, and hereby tender to his family its sincere sympathy, in this their· hour of sorrow and bereavement. Be it further
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of the Senate, and that a properly engrossed copy authenticated by the President and Secretary, be sent to the members of the family.
