Born in Wayne County, Indiana, February 18, 1839. He moved to Des Moines sometime during the sixties, where he was married to Miss Elizabeth S. Hain of Stuart, IA. He graduated from Iowa State university, served in the Civil War, then bought land and represented his District in the State Legislature, serving in the Eleventh Iowa General Assembly, 1866. Mr. McPherson gave much time, land and money for the advancement of the town of Stuart, Iowa. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
