Bremer County
Born in Holmes County, Ohio on July 31, 1835. In 1850 he moved to Fulton, Illinois, and in 1861 came to Iowa. On the 18th of August 1862, he was married to Miss Hattie Cane. Soon after his marriage he enlisted in the union army and served until the close of the war having attained the rank of second lieutenant. In 1866 and 67, he was a representative from Bremer County in the State Legislature. In 1868 he moved with his family to Carpenter in Mitchell County which was his home for about 12 years when he moved to Osage. While living in Carpenter he served the county for two terms as supervisor from that district. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
