Eugene Edgar Edwards

Born on 30 August 1835, in Bedford, Lawrence, Indiana and died on April 5, 1915 at the age of 79 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska. Colonel Eugene E. Edwards was a veteran of the civil war, belonging to the Sixth Iowa Infantry. During the siege of Vicksburg he served as provost marshal. After the war he practiced law at Chariton, Iowa, and was a member of the Iowa legislature. Removing later to California, he was active in politics in Santa Ana, and while in the California legislature succeeded in having Los Angeles County divided, making the new county of Orange. Col. Edwards was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Loyal Legion. He leaves two children, Mrs. Clement Chase of Omaha and LeRoy M. Edwards of Los Angeles.
