Born in Ohio about 1827. In 1850, he lived in Columbia, Wisconsin. He moved to Iowa and was the Dallas County surveyor from October, 1863, to November, 1864. He was elected as the Dallas County representative to the 11th General Assembly (1866-1868). By 1875, he had moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was lawyer involved in map making and abstracts of titles and ran the business as Abbott & Son.
