Born in Charleston, Montgomery county, New York on November 21, 1815. In1837 he married Miss Rachel, youngest daughter of the late Deacon Isaac Burnap, of the same place. In 1857 Mr. Stanton came with his family to Cedar county, where he has since resided. He was a farmer by profession. Politically Mr. Stanton was a staunch republican, who served his party well in minor offices, as well as in the Legislature of 1864. He was a member of the Christian Church.
