Oliver Ferdinand Hixson

Born July 8, 1811, in Landover County, Virginia. Mr. Hixson graduated from Starling Medical College in Ohio in 1836. Emigrated from Virginia to Green county Ohio then came to Marshall county Iowa in 1852. He established a home and became one of the leading farmers and influential citizens of the pioneer days and well as a pioneer physician. He practiced medicine from 1854 until 1882 in Marietta Township, Marshall County. Mr. Hixson was married to Elizabeth Dawson. In politics he was a republican. He represented Marshall county in the Tenth General Assembly, 1864. He attended the Christian Church.
