Samuel Parker
Van Buren County
Born in 1806. He married Elizabeth Sutton in 1828; the couple had ten children. He served in the House of Representatives of the First Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory in 1838, representing Van Buren County. In 1845, he moved his family west to Oregon, arriving in the Willamette Valley later that year. He was elected to the Provisional Legislature of Oregon in 1848 and later went on to serve as President of the Council of the Oregon Territorial Legislature from 1849 to 1851 and as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 1860 to 1861. He died in Oregon in 1886.
