ISHAM KEITH Born in Virginia in 1785. He married his wife, Mary, there before moving to Tennessee, then on to Iowa. Mr. Keith was a blacksmith by trade. He resided in Bonaparte, Van Buren County. He served as foreman of the grand jury for the first court in Van Buren County (1837). He also was a member of the first Board of Commissioners of the county which held its first meeting on May 4, 1837, in Farmington. He served in the Territorial Legislative Assembly, 1838, representing Van Buren County. He died in Van Buren County, Iowa on October 19, 1853.
