Thomas Blair
Des Moines County
Born in 1789, in Bourbon County, Kentucky. He married Margaret Job, her family emigrants from Virginia but natives of Baltimore, Maryland. In 1819, Mr. Blair moved his family to near Connersville, Indiana, thence in 1821 to what is now Cass County, Illinois, and three years later crossed the Illinois River into Pike County. He was a farmer by trade. Mr. Blair was appointed a Commissioner for the organization of the new county of Schuyler and was Chairman of the first Board of County Commissioners. In 1835, he moved and settled on what was known as Round Prairie now in Yellow Spring Township, Des Moines County. He was a Representative in the first Wisconsin Legislature and also in the first Iowa Territorial Legislature. Mr. Blair was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
