Born November 3, 1807, in New York, New York. Mr. Whittlesey married Mary Tuthill on November 3, 1837, in New York. He was a farmer by trade. He served as a Councilor in the First and Second Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory, representing Cedar County. Mr. Whittlesey died on January 17, 1863, in New York.
