Born in 1811 in Kentucky. He lived in Texas for a time, but eventually settled in Fort Madison, Iowa Territory in 1837. He represented Lee County in the House of Representatives of the Second Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory. He ran for a position in the United States Congress following the expiration of his term in 1840, but was defeated. He returned to Kentucky and died of tuberculosis July 11, 1843.
