Robert Ralston
Des Moines County
Born July 22, 1813, in Ohio. He came to Iowa in September 1836. He represented Des Moines County in the Council of the First and Second Legislative Assemblies of the Iowa Territory. Territorial governor Robert Lucas appointed Ralston, Chauncey Swan, and John Ronalds to determine the location of the capital of the new Iowa territory. They were to meet May 4, 1839, however Ralston showed up three days later.
