Jacob Mintun
Louisa County
Born May 2, 1797, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. On May 4, 1815, he was married to Rebecca Rardin in Washington County, Ohio. In 1839 he was a justice of the peace for Louisa County. Later that year he was elected to the House of Representatives for the Second Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory. In the 1850 census he lists his occupation as shoe maker. In 1857, he and his son, Henry, bought the Burris City Commercial newspaper and sold it soon after moving it to Wapello, Iowa. His wife, Rebecca, died in 1846. Mr. Mintun married Susannah Holland in Louisa County, July 26, 1866. He died February 18, 1871, in Cairo, Louisa County, Iowa.
