Mr. Thompson and a family of seven had arrived in Lee County by 1840. In 1850 he was living in Green Bay township and was nominated on the Democratic ticket for Lee County. He served in the seventh and eighth Territorial Councils and in the third General Assembly. He was a member of the 1844 Iowa Constitutional Convention.
