Sioux City Democrat 3Oth Senatorial District Woodbury County. Born in Luverne, Minn., May 17, 1920, son of James M. and Marion F. Burke. Holds Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, and Sociology degrees from Morningside College, 1958; graduate studies, University of New York, University of South Dakota. Married Mary A. Crilly, Anthon, Iowa, April 13, 1940. Three children: Michael 17, Alice 13, JoAnn 11. Has a broad background beginning as barnstorming aviator through varied business interests including motor truck operation and driving; automotive repair and sales; insurance, etc. Most recently in rehabilitation work with physically and mentally handicapped, and socially maladjusted. Served WW II, 1942-45, U.S.A.A.F.—Air Transport Command Ferry Division. Member National Rehabilitation Assn.; American Inter-professional Assn.; Iowa Welfare Assn. Vice president Iowa Wing OX-5 Club of America (Aviation Pioneers); Antique Airplane Assn.; Experimental Aircraft Assn. Hobby: rebuilding and flying antique airplanes. Catholic. Serving first term.
