Born Oct. 27, 1809, in Delaware. He married Elizabeth Craige in 1829 in Sussex County, Delaware. The family located to Van Buren county, Iowa, from Sussex county, Del., in 1846. He was a postmaster for Milton, Iowa, in 1851. Mr. Russell represented Van Buren County in the Fourth Iowa General Assembly, 1852. He was a Whig in politics. He died on Aug. 16, 1883.
