A very old settler of this county, settled first in Crawford township, on the western line of Madison, but remained there only one year, when he removed to Warren county. Rev. Jones was the pioneer preacher of the United Brethren Church in Polk and Warren County. Beginning in 1856 Warren County elected a succession of Republicans to the state house. This included Rev. Jones who was elected to the state House of Representatives. He was married to Sarah A. Utsler who died March 17, 1886. Rev. Jones died September 14, 1899.
