Born in Seneca Co., N. Y., June 7, 1817. He lived in the State of New York for forty years and engaged in the mercantile and milling business. He came to Iowa in 1857, and located at Mt. Pleasant. In 1862, he represented Henry Co. in the State Legislature and afterward, removed to Fort Madison, and came to Marshalltown in 1866. He was nominated for Supervisor of this county. He married Miss Ann E. Somers, from Susquehanna Co., Penn., May 27, 1840.
