Born April 21, 1814, in Ross County, Ohio. In 1823, he moved to Champaign County, Ohio. Around the year 1834, he began the study of medicine in West Middlebury. In 1843, moved to Village Tp., Van Buren County, and engaged in farming and practicing medicine. He also acted as local preacher. In the fall of 1854, he moved to Libertyville, Jefferson County, where he continued practicing. In October, 1861, he was elected Representative for Jefferson County for two years. At an extra session in September, 1862, he was commissioned by Governor Kirkwood as First Assistant Surgeon in the 30th Iowa V. I. He resigned his seat in the Legislature, rejoined his regiment at Keokuk, and was mustered in September 12. Due to sickness, he was obliged to resign his commission, which he did December 26, 1862, and returned to his home in Libertyville. He married Sarah G. Stokes March 29, 1838. Mr. Walker was a prominent member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows fraternities; he was Master Mason, Royal Arch Master, and Knight Templar.
