Born March 20, 1820 in Connecticut, and died June 30, 1879 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Gricella Elliot of Ohio. He served in the Iowa Legislature as a Senator and was the Mayor of Monticello, Iowa. George W. was chair of the committee attempting to secure the location of the Great Northwestern Railroad on the route from Galena to Cascade. He served in the Sixth Regiment Iowa Volunteer Cavalry as a surgeon from Oct. 21, 1862 to Feb. 10, 1863.
