Born in 1823 in Pennsylvania, and died in 1877. Eliza Jane McKissen (1827-1906) married Hugh Skiles. Her father Dr. McKissen was in partnership with Hugh Skiles in stores at different periods. They lived in the village of Warren, Pennsylvania. Dr. McKissen went to Blue Grass, Scott County, Iowa with his sons-in-law. In 1855 James E. Burnsides erected a building for a hotel in Blue Grass, but sold to Mr. Skiles, who made additions and opened a store and a post office. The Tenth General Assembly convened at Des Moines, January 11, 1864, and Scott county was the 32d Representative District, and was represented by Hugh M. G. Skiles.
